Madama Butterfly Giacomo Puccini’s tragic masterpiece about a young geisha and a naval officer’s doomed love affair and the clash between the cultures of the East and the West. If you saw Broadway’s “Miss Saigon”, don’t miss the inspiration for that Toni award winning musical. Puccini’s opera contains many of his most famous arias such as “Un Bel Dì…(One Fine Day…). Don’t miss one of opera’s most moving and tearful theatrical experiences: “Madame Butterfly”.
Le Nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro) Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro” is one of opera’s most radical and hilarious stories of mistaken identities and sexual peccadilloes, which Napoleon credited with igniting the French Revolution. Mozart’s sparkling opera is a cornerstone and perennial favorite with audiences since 1796. The plot revolves around the servant Figaro outwitting his noble master, who is trying to seduce Figaro’s fiancée. The confusing events all happen within one ‘crazy’ day and will keep all the members of your family entertained as it has been doing for the past 200 years!
Susannah Known as one of the most popular of American Operas, “Susannah” is the poignant tale of a beautiful young mountain girl in Tennessee. Caught in a communal web of intolerance, human frailty, and passion, the young girl Susannah becomes the target of hate, cruelty and lust. Composer-librettist Carlisle Floyd’s opera has become a benchmark in American music filled with revival hymns, square-dance tunes and heart-rending melodies of rare beauty. Few evenings in the theatre can match the power of this story that speaks so directly to the hearts of Americans, as does Carlisle Floyd’s “Susannah”.
